My first recommendation is also one of my favorite photo shoot locations (as seen in the photo above). South Ponto beach is not only one of the most photo worthy beaches in San Diego County, but it is also one of the widest, with plenty of room for recreation, no matter what the tide conditions are. This wide, sandy beach offers incredible views of the Pacific Ocean and is a perfect place to sunbathe, swim, or go surfing. Additionally, South Ponto Beach features plenty of picnic areas, so you can pack a lunch and spend the day lounging on the sand with friends and family.
Carlsbad Village
Carlsbad Village is home to a variety of restaurants, from casual cafes to fine dining. There’s also a lively nightlife scene, with a number of bars and clubs to choose from. And if you’re a fan of craft beer, you’ll be happy to know that Carlsbad is home to several breweries. Best of all, the village is within walking distance of the beach, so you can enjoy the sun and surf during your stay. The beautiful murals by local artists are my favorite part of the village atmosphere.
Legoland California
When it comes to family-friendly fun, LEGOLAND California is hard to beat. Located in Carlsbad, this theme park is full of rides, shows, and attractions that are perfect for young children. Highlights include the LEGO Ninjago World ride, the LEGO City Fire Academy, and the Duplo Playtown. There’s also a water park on site, making LEGOLAND the perfect place to cool off on a hot day.
